Works well with my dog. He tends to bark at anything and everyone. Sometimes he barks and there’s no body there! I keep wondering if he’s seeing things I’m not seeing because he barks at something straight ahead and there’s nobody there! Anyway, it makes me rather anxious when he starts barking, so I really need him to stop. However, I also find it handy when someone else’s dog starts all the commotion. I just use it, kind of point in a neutral direction between my dog and the other dog, and the other dog will also stop! I notice the owners are surprised at the fact that their dog stops barking, without knowing what I’m using, but I can tell they’re relieved when their dog stops barking. I’m not trying to purposely use it on their dog, it’s more of an unintentional result, but helpful.I find it works best if you use it right as you see them beginning to get riled up, before you’re actually in the all out bark situation. At that point, it can be too late because they’re so focused on what’s making them bark. If you use it once quickly as they’re beginning to get excited, it stops them from reaching the peak, and it’s easier to calm them down. If you wait until the dog is in a fully exited mode and barking beyond control, it doesn’t work as well. It’s just like when you’re training them for anything, you have to snap them out of the mode before they are fully gone. Hope that makes sense.Works well, and so happy it comes with a wrist strap. That’s crucial for me as I need to keep it on hand because there are many people with dogs in my area and the pop out of nowhere sometimes and my dog get’s easily startled and goes into full on bark mode. Having it on my wrist keeps me prepared at all times.
