Description Stone lithograph by Thomas Sidney Cooper RA. Cooper was well known for his studies of cattle. Published by Ackerman, 1839. Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803 – 1902) painter and lithographer of cattle and sheep. Born in Canterbury, he went to the Continent in 1827 and taught in Brussels, where he was influenced by the animal painter Verboeckhoven as well as the 17th century Dutch landscape painters. he returned to London in 1831 where he settled for some years. After lithographing some plates for R.Bridgens he produced his own studies of cattle. He later founded an art gallery and school in Canterbury where he died.
