This packaging of lead for Staedtler Mars drafting pencils has probably been around forever, and everyone but ME knows about it. It is a very clever and perfectly functional design. To load the leads into the pencil, you open the pencil at the top, open the lead container, fit them together and bring the pencil to a vertical position. The leads drop neatly into the pencil without ever being touched or lost (or BROKEN!). This is WAY too easy! MY pencil is nearly 25 years old…the loading system still works perfectly, too. Will absolutely buy it again.
